The Standards Committee approved recommendations for ethical governance and member induction following the 2027 Local Government Elections on 23 October 2026. The committee endorsed the inclusion of a dedicated ethical governance element in the Councillor Induction and Training Programme 2027, with core areas to be refined by the Monitoring Officer. This includes initial Code of Conduct training, followed by refresher and topic-specific learning informed by Ombudsman decisions and local experience.
