Decision
That it be DETERMINED that:
- Approval is granted to allocate £0.005m in capital funding to support the internal adaptation of a designated space at Greswell Primary School and Nursery, for use as a tailored provision to meet the needs of a visually impaired pupil.
- The adaptation works are to be delivered by the school under the oversight of the Education Capital Project Team, with costs monitored to ensure best value.
Reasons for the decision
To ensure the immediate educational and accessibility needs of a visually impaired pupil can be met within a mainstream setting, in line with inclusive education priorities and statutory responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 and SEND Code of Practice.
To meet the increasing in-borough demand for specialist school places, ensure more pupils with SEND are educated in local inclusive settings, and reduce financial pressure on the High Needs Block by decreasing reliance on expensive out-of-borough placements.
