- Permission is granted to consult with ward members and frontagers with regard to the introduction of bus stop clearways within the Underwood Road, Hattersley Road East area, Mottram in Longdendale.
Any unresolved objections will be reported at a future Speakers Panel (Planning) meeting, otherwise if unopposed the proposals will be approved, the legal Orders will be sealed and the raised junction plateau and bus stop clearways will be implemented.
Reasons for the decision
The proposed waiting restrictions are intended to prevent parking, enhance road safety and improve traffic movements along Underwood Road, Hattersley Road East, Beaufort Road, Sylvester Close and Beaufort Close.
The proposed removal of waiting restrictions within the former bus turning area on Hattersley Road East would help mitigate the loss of parking within that area.
The extension of the existing 20mph zone to incorporate the new development roads will improve road safety and reduce the signage requirements.
The proposed raised junction plateau will maintain the integrity of the 20mph zone on Underwood Road, which could be compromised due to the removal of the road narrowing and priority system.
