Purpose

The report provides an update on the Ashton Pride in Place Programme and seeks formal approval to enter in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government (Secretary of State) and to note the initial allocation of funding for projects recommended for approval by the Ashton Neighbourhood Board at a meeting on 18 March 2026.

Decision

To be given approval that the Council will enter into the formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Secretary of State for the Ashton Pride in Place Programme funding.

Reasons for the decision

To enable Tameside Council to formally enter a Memorandum of Understanding with the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government for the Ashton Pride in Place Programme funding. 

Alternative options considered

To not enter the MoU or receive funding from the Pride in Place Programme funding.
