Purpose

Approval is sought to allow the legal process of introducing a Restricted Parking Zone and Taxi Rank Order and Loading Only Order within the Armentieres Square area of Stalybridge to commence. 

Decision

(i)                Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council in exercise of its powers under Sections 1(1), 2(1) and 2(2) and of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 gives public notice of a Restricted Parking Zone and Taxi Rank Order within the Armentieres Square area of Stalybridge.

(ii)             Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council in exercise of its powers under Sections 1(1), 2(1) , 2(2) and 4(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 gives public notice of a Loading Only Order at the Service Area between Armentieres Square and Back Grosvenor Street, Stalybridge.

(iii)           Any unresolved objections will be reported at a future Speakers Panel (Planning) meeting.  If the proposals are subsequently approved, then a legal order(s) will be made to reflect the decision.

Reasons for the decision

To support the delivery of the Armentieres Square phase of the Stalybridge Regeneration Programme by revising the parking and loading arrangements within this area.

Alternative options considered

If the report is not approved the existing parking and loading arrangements within the Armentieres Square area will not align with the Stalybridge Public Realm Vision.
