Purpose

Permission is sought under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to advertise:
1. A 20mph zone on Jubilee Drive and Elizabeth Close, Hyde.
2. A prohibition of waiting order on Cartwright Street and Jubilee Drive, Hyde.

Decision

That it be DETERMINED that:

1. Permission is given under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to make a Legal Order for the introduction of a 20mph Zone on Jubilee Drive and Elizabeth Close, Hyde, and, if no objections are received, seal the proposed Order.
2. Permission is given under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to make a Legal Order for the introduction of prohibition of waiting at any time on Cartwright Street and Jubilee Drive, Hyde, and prohibition of waiting Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on Cartwright Street, Hyde, and, if no objections are received, seal the proposed Order.
3. Any objections will be reported at a future Speakers Panel (Planning) meeting to determine a final resolution to the proposed restriction.

Reasons for the decision

1.     To support the new residential development off Cartwright Street, Hyde by encouraging lower vehicle speeds and ensuring that the speed limit is enforceable.

2.     To ensure the safe flow of traffic and protect intervisibility between road users at the new junction.
