Purpose

To approve terms for the settlement of a dilapidations claim in connection with the surrender of the lease to the Council of part of Dekko House

Decision

That it be DETERMINED that the Council pay the former landlord a sum of £41,000 (forty-one thousand pounds) in full and final settlement of a claim for dilapidations due, following surrender to the landlord of the leasehold interest in the ground and first floor of the former Barcrest Building, Margaret Street, Ashton-under Lyne, OL7 0QQ.

Reasons for the decision

As part of the office rationalisation moves to reduce office costs the subject property was vacated and the lease surrendered to the landlord on 21 December 2023.  The settlement of the dilapidation claim completes the process of vacating the property and reduces Council operational office costs in future years.
