Purpose

This report seeks approval to vire £0.110m of High Needs Capital Allocation to Manor Green Primary Academy to convert an existing classroom into a Key Stage Two Resourced Provision, which will increase their Resourced Provision capacity from a current 12 places up to 24 places by September 2028, allowing for children placed in KS1 to remain in the school at the KS2 Resource base.

Decision

RESOLVED

(i)                That Approval be granted for a budget virement of £0.110m from the unallocated High Needs Capital Allocation to fund the proposed capital works at Manor Green Primary Academy.

(ii)              That Approval be given to allocate a grant agreement with Focus Academy Trust to enable delivery of the works.

Reasons for the decision

The proposed works are essential to continue to meet the needs of pupils at the school who are currently in the Key Stage One Resourced Provision. The proposal will also increase the capacity of the Resourced Provision by an additional four places each year. Expanding the Resourced Provision will also ensure future readiness to accommodate more pupils with similar needs, contributing to long-term sufficiency.

The investment supports inclusive education, promotes dignity and independence, and aligns with the council’s statutory responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 and the SEND Code of Practice.

Alternative options considered

None.
