Purpose
The report seeks approval for a Deed of Variation to an existing highways funding agreement to enable the inclusion of additional highway works funded by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM).
The variation formalises the change in the scope of the scheme and secures additional external funding to the value of £13,236.11. This will support the delivery of works aligned with regional transport priorities, including improved safety, network efficiency and sustainable travel.
Approval of the Deed of Variation found at Appendix 1 will allow Tameside Council to accept TfGM funding and progress the works set out in section 2.4 of the report.
The original Deed of Variation is attached, for reference, also.
Decision
(i) That approval be given to accept the additional grant funding of £13,236.11 from TfGM.
(ii) That approval be given for the Deed of Variation to be amended to allow for:
a. The addition of the extra highway works to improve public transport and;
b. Acceptance of the TfGM funding.
Reasons for the decision
The decision to approve the Deed of Variation, to include receipt of additional funding, is required to enable the delivery of additional highway works supported by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) funding.
Alternative options considered
Options rejected are set out in section 5 of this report.
