September 4, 2026 Strategic Director of Housing, Environment and Estates (Officer) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
The Department for Education have funded the rebuild of Russell Scott Primary School. This report sought access for construction traffic needs via land leased to Northern Education Trust who operate Denton Community College. Within the Academisation lease, a provision was made for the access to be granted subject to the payment of the Trust’s legal costs.
The Council had been required to grant the licence in conjunction with the Trust as ground landlord.
Decision
i) That approval be given for the access licence to be granted.
ii) That approval be given for the Council to bear the Trust’s legal costs.
Reasons for the decision
The grant of a licence is delegated to Directors.
Alternative options considered
The Council could choose not to grant the licence and to not pay the Trust’s legal costs and lose the opportunity to receive a brand new school at the Government’s cost.
