Purpose
The Council had previously sold its leasehold and part freehold interest in the property but retained a small area of reversionary freehold within the footprint of the building. The report sought to transfer this remaining area to allow the sale of the property to complete.
Decision
That approval be given for the Council’s remaining freehold reversionary interest in part of the site of 32 Cambridge Street, Stalybridge be sold to the occupier to allow the sale of the house to complete.
Reasons for the decision
The Council has unintentionally retained a reversionary freehold interest in part of the site of 32, Cambridge Street, Stalybridge. The property is now being sold, and the seller is trying to perfect the Title.
Alternative options considered
The Council could retain the part of the plot it holds on a reversionary freehold basis but this would frustrate future sales of the property.
