Purpose

The work was undertaken on site as planned at the school. Whilst removing the window fascias it was discovered there were no lintels to the windows. The loading of the window frames meant the smaller windows could uphold the masonry, but the larger windows required the installation of lintels to uphold the brickwork.

Decision

i)                   A budget virement be given approval to allocate an additional £0.044m from the School Condition Allocation Contingency budget to the Milton St John External Works budget to allow for the installation of window lintels on the larger windows.

ii)                That approval be given for the Capital Projects team to manage the project within the approved budget including any scheme contingency spend.

iii)              Halestone Restoration Ltd won the contract to complete the works with the works in progress. The installation of the window lintels will be completed as a variation to the current contract.
