Purpose

The report sought Approval to allow the legal process: -

i)                    To amend three bus lane orders at: -

a)      Wellington Road, Ashton

b)     Stockport Road, Denton

c)      Manchester Road North, Denton

ii)                  Introduce a Prohibition of Waiting and Loading Order at Audenshaw Road, Audenshaw.

Decision

Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council in exercise of its powers under Sections 1(1), 2(1) and 2(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 is granted permission to give public notice of: -

i)                   Three bus lane orders at: -

a)    Wellington Road, Ashton

b)    Stockport Road, Denton

c)     Manchester Road North, Denton

ii)                A Prohibition of Waiting and Loading Order at Audenshaw Road, Audenshaw

iii)              Any unresolved objections will be reported at a future Speakers Panel (Planning) meeting.  If the proposals are subsequently approved, then the legal orders will be made to reflect the decision.

Reasons for the decision

To ensure that all bus lanes in Tameside are compliant with the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Alternative options considered

If the report is not approved bus lane enforcement issues may arise and vehicle parking within the bus lane on Audenshaw Road, Audenshaw and within the vicinity of the motorway bridge and signal-controlled junction of Audenshaw Road / Kings Road, may occur.
