The Overview and Scrutiny Committee 1 (until May 2024) for Teignbridge Council is responsible for monitoring and reviewing the Council's performance and activities. It examines areas such as strategic direction, environmental health, waste and recycling, climate change, communities, housing, and information technology.
The committee provides a check on the Executive's decisions through a 'call-in' process, reviews policy formulation and implementation, and conducts quality reviews of policy development. It also scrutinises the work of external bodies and agencies that impact the district.
