January 30, 2025 Cabinet (Cabinet collective) Key decision Approved View on council website
Full council record

Purpose

The decision confirms the
potential programme of works for phase 3 of the Public Toilets
Refurbishment and Renewal Project based on an anticipated budget of
£400k being made available as part of the 2025/26
budget.

Decision

Cabinet agreed the schedule of works suggested
in Appendix 1 of the Cabinet report, subject to Full
Council’s approval of the budget.

Reasons for the decision

The Council is responsible for maintenance of
27 public toilets and has spent £279k of revenue funding on
repairing public toilets. A further £400k is needed to
complete the outstanding repairs and refurbishment to ensure all
public toilets have received attention.

Alternative options considered

The alternative options for Council to
consider were not to allocate the funds requested and not to
undertake refurbishment of the existing proposed public toilets
because of budget constraints. This is not the preferred option as
there is a recognised need to improve the public toilets in
Thanet.
