Full council record

Purpose

Cabinet has agreed to consult on the draft Thanet Cycling & Walking Infrastructure Plan (TCWIP). The draft Plan is the consolidation of nearly three years’ work on developing a potential network of cycling and walking routes in the District, and this report sets out the need for, and a recommendation to undertake, wider public consultation on the draft Plan.

Decision

Cabinet agreed to publish the draft Thanet Cycling & Walking Infrastructure Plan (TCWIP) for consultation for a period of six weeks.

Reasons for the decision

This would enable the Council to consult on the TCWIP, and to bid for future funding to deliver cycling and walking schemes in the District.

Alternative options considered

Not to agree the proposal. This option would make it more difficult for the Council to seek future funding to deliver cycling and walking schemes in the District, as consulting on the TCWIP is an important part of the process of developing a Local Cycling & Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP).
