Decision

Following consultation with the corporate management team the decision is to waive the fees, £876.00, for the suspension of parking bays in order to install a mural on Retort House.

Reasons for the decision

POW Margate has partnered with Rise Up Residency team to create a project supporting women and girls and highlighting the history of brilliant women and feminism in Thanet. The project includes 2 impactful pieces of public art, one in Broadstairs and one in Margate. The project will include community engagement events, 3 young people mentored as trainee muralist, videographer and producer, creative workshops, business partnership opportunities. These additional activities support the Thanet Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy.

Alternative options considered

The alternative to charge the fees was considered but rejected as this would not be supportive of the event.
