As the Accountable Body for the Margate Town Deal programme the Council has withdrawn the grant to GRASS Cliftonville CIC for their proposed capital scheme at the Oval Bandstand and Lawns.

Reasons for the decision

GRASS Cliftonville CIC have refused to sign the standard grant agreement for the Margate Town Deal funding.

Alternative options considered

The grant be provided outside of the grant agreement - however this would leave the council, and public funding open to misuse. The use of a standard agreement to protect the public funding, the council as accountable body and the government as ultimate funder was required in following due process.

The council could complete the works directly to the Oval Bandstand and Lawns - the council is not in ownership of the Oval Bandstand and Lawns and therefore does not have the right to complete the works directly.
