relating to Abersychan Brynteg and Victoria, and propose next steps
for those schools plus Garnteg and Cwmffrwdoer

Cabinet noted the outcome of the consultation
exercise and agreed, with one member voting against:
 

a)   
to publish statutory
notices to discontinue Victoria Primary School with
the dispersal of pupils to neighbouring
schools (predominantly Garnteg Primary School) with effect
from 1st September 2017;

b)   
to publish statutory
notices to discontinue Abersychan Brynteg Nursery School with effect from
1st September 2017;

c)   
to publish statutory
notices to extend Garnteg Primary School with the new
extended provision available with effect from 1st
September 2017;

d)   
to publish statutory
notices to extend Cwmffrwdoer Primary School, and at
the same time increase the age range from 4 to 11 years to 3 to 11
to provide nursery provision. The nursery provision and extended
provision to be available with effect from 1st September
2017;

e)   
adjust/reallocate
catchment areas as follows:

·          
current Victoria
Primary School to Garnteg Primary
School

·          
current Abersychan
Brynteg Nursery School to Garnteg Primary School
             
and;

f)    
to receive a further report in March/April 2016 following the
end of the statutory notice period with a view to making a
recommendation on how to proceed.
