• Welsh Government has determined that
Local Authorities should carry out the Admissions process for
Voluntary Aided Schools going forwards.
• In Torfaen, the primary schools have agreed to go ahead with
this, but the secondary school has not.
• In order to accommodate the additional workload placed on
the Admissions Team, funding has been identified to increase the
Admissions Business Support Assistant’s fractional post from
0.8 to full time for the remainder of the current financial
year.
• The Administration & Business Support Team’s
budget needs to be increased to fund the permanent uplift from 1st
April 2026.
