Purpose:
The purpose of the Board is set
out in the Ministerial Directions to the Council of January
2025.
The Board will work with the
Ministerial Envoys to:
•
provide the additional scrutiny,
external challenge, advice and monitoring which is needed to
oversee the improvements.
•
continue to review and improve
leadership, governance and scrutiny arrangements, to ensure members
and officers are empowered to challenge.
•
build on continuous cultural
improvement, including increasing trust and respect between members
and officers.
•
Build on existing improvement work
to ensure realisation of programmes of cultural change and
political mentoring.
This will
involve:
•
providing regular advice,
challenge, and support to the Council on improvement
activities.
•
working with the Council to agree
an exit strategy to ensure success measures have been validated and
that there is a common understanding of what ‘good’
looks like.
•
regularly monitoring progress
against key target improvement indicators, to ensure delivery of
the ministerial directions is achieved within 3 years.
•
Assuring delivery against the
Ministerial Directions through deep dives and workshops.
