Health Scrutiny Committee

The Health Scrutiny Committee is a group of Trafford councillors responsible for reviewing and questioning decisions that affect local health services and the wellbeing of residents. It acts as a 'critical friend' to the council's Executive, ensuring decisions are fair, practical, and in the public's best interest.

The committee can investigate any matter related to the commissioning or provision of local health services. It has the power to request information from NHS bodies and require their Chief Executives to attend meetings. NHS bodies must consult the committee on significant service changes, and the committee can refer inadequate consultations to the Secretary of State for Health.
