Purpose
To outline the next steps
necessary to secure the safe alteration and partial deconstruction
of the building alongside the necessary listed building consent
application. This approach aims to ensure public safety whilst
acting in accordance with our statutory heritage
responsibilities.
Decision
(1)
That the precarious state of the building and the
risk to any persons entering within the existing cordon and its
environs, be noted.
(2)
That it be noted that the building is too unstable
to repair or shore up.
(3)
That an application for listed building consent be
made for significant alteration / partial demolition to preserve as
much as possible of the remainder of the house and render the
structure safe.
(4)
That the Corporate Director of Place, be delegated
authority to make the necessary preparations to submit a listed
building consent application, and if approved in due course make an
application for de-listing of the building.
(5)
That the Corporate Director of Place, in
consultation with the Director of Legal and Governance, be
delegated authority to procure a contractor to carry out the works
as appropriate.
(6)
That the Executive Member for Economy and
Regeneration approves the reprofiling of funds from the approved
Capital Programme, in consultation with the Corporate Director of
Place and the Director of Finance and Systems, to fund the
essential works.
