Purpose

The Council has a statutory
duty to provide sufficient places in schools. The report seeks
approval to proceed with an additional secondary school expansion
proposal.

Decision

1.   
That the proposal to expand Sale High School by 15
places per year group, be approved to be delivered by Department
for Education (DfE) as part of the School Rebuild Programme
project, as detailed in section 2 of the report.
 
2.   
That the allocation of Basic Need capital funding to
carry out work to improve the facilities and expand provision for
pupils at Sale High School, be approved as detailed in Appendix A:
Proposed Capital Project, Basic Need Capital Programme, Table
1.
 
3.   
That the Corporate Director of Place and
the Corporate Director of Children’s Services, in
consultation with the Director of Legal and Governance, be
delegated authority to carry out the following for the capital
projects included in the Basic Need Capital
Programme:

Enter
into any procurement
exercise and negotiate, agree and enter
into the terms of any contracts and other documentation
necessary to progress the projects.

·      
Appointment of any relevant contractors
and specialists required to deliver.
 
4.   
That the Director of Legal and Governance be
delegated authority to enter into all legal agreements required to
implement the above decisions.

 
5.   
That the urgency of this decision as detailed in
section 8, be noted and based on the Council’s urgency
provisions, that this decision shall not be subject to the call in
process.
