Purpose
Trafford Council is working in partnership with Transport for
Greater Manchester (TfGM) Projects Team in relation to a proposed
scheme in Manor Ward. The scheme forms part of a GM wide strategy
of improving the bus waiting environment and enhancing the existing
walking and cycling networks.
The
proposal is:
Replacing the uncontrolled crossing on Firs Way (northeast of
the health centre) with a parallel zebra crossing
Relocation of existing bus stop shelter and associated Bus Stop
Clearway markings on the southeast side of Firs Way
This
will help increase the number of people traveling on buses, and the
numbers walking, cycling and wheeling
along the route. Improving the bus stop waiting environment to a
more comfortable and safer space, alongside enhancing the existing
walking and cycling networks across Trafford improves accessibility
and connectivity and contributes to GM’s Right Mix
vision.
It
is proposed to introduce a parallel Zebra Crossing, as shown on
drawing CO00201653-AMEY-SWANI-PH3-DR-TMU-001, to improve
accessibility and road safety in this location.
Decision
1.
That authorisation is given to advertise, via a
Pedestrian Crossing Notice, the introduction of a parallel Zebra
Crossing on Firs Way, Sale, as shown on drawing
CO00201653-AMEY-SWANI-PH3-DR-TMU-001.
2.
That should no objections be maintaied;
authorisation be given to introduce the parallel Zebra
Crossing.
3.
That any objections maintained be reported back to
Members for consideration.
Reasons for the decision
It
is recommended that, in the interests of road safety and
accessibility, approval is given to introduce the parallel Zebra
Crossing as shown on the drawing
CO00201653-AMEY-SWANI-PH3-DR-TMU-001.
Alternative options considered
None.
