Purpose

Following complaints of commuter parking, a
questionnaire was issued to properties in the Stretford area
regarding parking conditions. Feedback to the consultation showed
there was no widespread support for the introduction of permit
parking in the area.
 
There were pockets of support for restrictions in the
area albeit many residents were unwilling to pay for parking
permits.
 
In light of this, it is proposed to introduce a
series of localised restrictions to combat specific issues. These
are proposed in the following locations:
 

At the Quadrant Roundabout,

At the junctions of Gorse Avenue with Gorse Lane,
Gorse Crescent and Gorse Drive,

On Ayres Road

At the junction of Gorse Lane with Talbot
Road

 
The proposals are shown on drawing numbers CO00201596-RPS-TRO-01, 02 & 03 appended to this
report.
 

Decision

1)   
That the Orders contained in the Schedules to the
report and shown on drawings CO00201596-RPS-TRO-01, 01 and 03, be
approved.
 
2)   
That formal consultation be carried out with nearby
residents at each location and that any objections maintained be
reported back for consideration.

 
3)   
That authorisation be given to advertise the
intention to introduce the Traffic Regulation Order as detailed in
the Schedules to the report, and that if no objections are
maintained, the Order be made and implemented in whole or in
part.

Alternative options considered

Event day only residents parking bays were
considered in the Quadrant, but these were extended to operate at
all times at the request of a ward councillor.

 

Less extensive restrictions were considered on Ayres
Road but these were extended to control parking associated with a
new residential development under construction.

 
To
do nothing would not resolve any of the issues currently
experienced.
