Purpose

Complaints have been received from residents regarding the
parking that occurs on Norris Road near its junction with
Brooklands Road. Cars parked half on, half off the footway, on the
south-east side of the road and also between the driveways on the
northwest side are reported to be prohibiting the free flow of
traffic.
 
To
deter the parking and manage where the parking may be displaced, No
Waiting At Any Time restrictions are proposed on Norris Road,
Alcester Road & Westwood Drive.
 
Obstructive parking problems have also been reported on Norris
Road & Croft Road, associated with Sale High School. To improve
visibility around the school, no waiting at any time and no waiting
Monday to Friday 8:15am – 9:15am and 3:00pm – 5:00pm
and Saturday 9am to Noon.
 
It
is also proposed that the existing School Keep Clear markings are
amended to operate seven days a week. 
 
The
proposals are shown on drawing numbers CO00201596-NR-TRO-01A, 02A and 03 appended to this
report.
 

Decision

1.   
That following careful consideration of the informal
comments received, authorisation be given to advertise the
intention to introduce the Traffic Regulation Order as detailed in
the Schedules to this report and that, if no objections are
maintained, the Order be made and implemented in part, as indicated
below, as soon as is practicable.
 
2.   
That any objections maintained be reported for
consideration.

Alternative options considered

Less
extensive restrictions were initially considered, but these were
deemed unlikely to resolve the obstructive parking issues
reported.
 
To
do nothing would not resolve any of the issues currently
experienced.
