Framingham Road, Georges Road and Walton Road area, Brooklands - Proposed Waiting Restrictions: Consideration of Objections
July 26, 2023 Executive Member for Highways, Environmental, and Traded Services (Cabinet member) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
Several requests have been
received by Trafford Council to manage kerbside parking in the
Brooklands ward. The issues raised are related to congestion caused
by commuters parking to use the Metrolink station and also parking
at peak times close to Brooklands Primary School.
In February 2019 the Council
proposed to introduce a series of waiting restrictions to manage
the congestion to improve traffic flow and ensure that vehicles are
parked in a safe manner. The measures included the introduction of
‘No waiting at any time’ restrictions and daytime
waiting restrictions and 110 objections including a petition were
received. However, over 2 years has now elapsed since the original
proposals were advertised and that notice has now
expired.
Having considered the
objections, petition and comments received, approval is now sought
to introduce the revised Traffic Regulation Order, as shown on
drawing E6111-03a and described in the schedules A-C to the report,
that take into account the comments received as well as maintaining
the safety and access objectives of the original scheme.
Decision
1)
That the results of the consultation and objections received be
noted.
2)
That following careful consideration of the objections and comments
received, authorisation be given to abandon the Traffic Regulation
Order as advertised and detailed in schedules 1-6 in Appendix 3 of
the report and as shown on drawing FW-TMU-01-01.
3)
That as the original notice that was advertised on 14 February 2019
has now expired the original proposals be now abandoned.
4)
That the residents be informed, via a consultation on the revised
scheme, that the original scheme has been abandoned.
5)
That authorisation be given to advertise the intention to introduce
the Traffic Regulation Order, as shown on drawing E6111-03a and
described in schedules A – C to the report and that, if no
objections are maintained, the order be made and implemented in
whole or in part, as soon as is practicable.
6)
That any objections maintained be reported back for
consideration.
