Purpose

Trafford Council are currently
working on a Section 278 agreement with the developer of
Cornbrook Park following approval of
their associated planning permissions. The Council has previously
been contacted by residents regarding problems with vehicles
parking on Virgil Street and Princess Street, Stretford. A new
residential development on Cornbrook
Park is likely to generate further issues with regards to on-street
parking.

Decision

1)     That the
results of the consultation and objections received be
noted.

 

2)     That
following careful consideration of the objections and comments
received, authorisation be given to abandon the Traffic Regulation
Order as advertised and detailed in Schedule A in Appendix 3 of the
report and as shown on drawing E9239-001.

 

3)     That the
residents be informed, via a consultation on the revised scheme,
that the original scheme has been abandoned.

 

4)     That
authorisation be given to advertise the intention to introduce the
Traffic Regulation Order, as shown on drawing E9239-001 Rev A and
described in Schedules A to the report and that, if no objections
are maintained, the order be made and implemented in whole or in
part, as soon as is practicable.

 

5)     That any
objections maintained be reported back for
consideration.

Reasons for the decision

To introduce a series of
waiting restrictions to manage congestion to improve traffic flow
and ensure that vehicles are parked in a safe manner without
causing any restrictions to larger vehicles and members of the
public.

Alternative options considered

This set of proposals
takes into account the comments received
to maintain the safety and access objectives of the proposal. The
option to do nothing is not recommended as this would mean there
would be no management of the parking to address safety and to
allow easy access for larger vehicles.
