Purpose

To create a budget of £256,526.00 towards the provision of two padel courts and one pickleball court, to be funded by S106 contributions. To authorise the Director of Finance, in consultation with the Director of Legal and Democratic to agree and enter into a funding agreement with Wantage Lawn Tennis Club. To approve payment to Wantage Lawn Tennis Club of £256,526.00 towards the provision of two padel courts and one pickleball court subject to and in accordance with the funding agreement.

Recommendations

(a)  Cabinet recommends to Council that a budget is created for £256,526.00 towards the provision of two padel courts and one pickleball court in place of an existing tennis court at Wantage Lawn Tennis Club, Memorial Park, Manor Road, Wantage.

Subject to Council creating the above budget, Cabinet also recommends to Council;

(b)  to authorise the Director of Finance, in consultation with the Director of Legal and Democratic to:

• Agree and enter into a funding agreement with Wantage Lawn Tennis Club regarding the terms of use of the s106 funding; the instalments in which the funding is paid; the conditions subject to which instalments are paid and to otherwise protect the interests of Vale of White Horse District Council as the provider of funding by undertaking legal and financial due diligence including being satisfied that the funding is lawful and compliant with subsidy control provisions.

• Approve the payment to Wantage Lawn Tennis Club of up to £256,526.00 towards the provision of two padel courts and one pickleball court in place of an existing tennis court at Wantage Lawn Tennis Club, Memorial Park, Manor Road, Wantage, subject to and in accordance with the funding agreement.
