Purpose

Accept the tender for the Pre-construction
Service (PSC), services required before entering into the formal
building contract. This is required to obtain further design input,
buildability, technical information and detailed cost information.
Accept the tender for the asbestos strip out and accept the tender
for the enabling works, which includes the demolition, site set-up
and temporary works.

Decision

Action:   Accept the tender for the
Pre-construction Service (PSC), services required before entering
into the formal building contract. This is required to obtain
further design input, buildability, technical information and detailed cost information.
 
Action 2:  Accept the tender for the asbestos strip out the
building (Broadwater Primary School).
 
Action 3:  Accept the tender for the enabling works, includes
the demolition, site set-up and temporary works. The enabling
package of works is proposed to commence with the site setup on 25
October 2023 in preparation of the main works commencing in 2024,
and to undertake works on site concurrently with the RIBA4 design
stage, in order not to lose master programme within the overall
context of the project’s completion Date.
 
Action 4:  Agree an additional sum as contingency.
 
Action 5:  Note the above approval request does not commit the
council to a construction contract until the construction cost has
been received and reviewed. This will be followed by a formal
request to enter into a building contract.
