Hostel Conversion - 4BW
March 27, 2024 Associate Director of Housing & Wellbeing (Officer) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
The opportunity to convert 4 BW (a Temporary
Accommodation 4 bed house) back to a 4 bedroom hostel (its previous
use), has been taken to CMB.
It is felt that with increased demand for temporary accommodation
and the associated financial pressures on the council the property
would be better returned to its previous use as a Hostel to
accommodate 4 smaller families, rather than a large house to
accommodate 1 large family. The families will share a kitchen,
living room, garage, two WCs and two bathrooms.
Environmental Health colleagues will be consulted during the works.
We will ensure WCH, on the council’s behalf, meet all the
necessary compliance and Health and Safety requirement for a
Hostel.
In the 24/25 capital programme we have included £84,530
capital spend for this project. However, we are likely to only
require £28,000 of that capital budget for this
project.
As a 4 bedroom hostel, the combination of increased income and
revenue savings from B&B amounts to £55,261.63 per
year
CMB approved the project subject to a delegated decisions by the
Associate Director of Housing a and Wellbeing
Decision
