Purpose

The Council have an existing contract with JC
Decaux in relation to the provision, management and advertising
associated with a number of bus shelters within the borough. The
current agreement expires in June 2024 but includes provisions for
a 5 year extension which have already been invoked. Following
negotiations with JC Decaux, they have agreed to enter into a deed
of variation to the principal agreement which would result in a
share of revenue associated with digital display boards being paid
to the Council. The base amount of this revenue would £76,800
per annum, subject to conditions. The deed of variation would expire
the current contract on 1 June 2029, which is in line with the
current contractual position.

Decision

That the Council should enter into the drafted
Deed of Variation with JC Decaux.

Alternative options considered

Option 1 - Enter into the deed of
variation
This option would maintain the current contractual position with
the added benefit of additional income to the Council over the next
5 years
Option 2 - Do not enter into the deed of variation
The status quo would be maintained but the Council would not
benefit from additional income
