The Executive RESOLVED that the Leader
would respond to the lead petitioner on behalf of the Executive, as
follows:

(i)
The Executive thank Steve Farmer for the petition regarding the
future use of the land at Broadwater Park that was previously a
golf course, and for the 1,500 other people who signed this.

(ii)
The Executive understand the desire to redevelop the site for
community leisure purposes and support that statement.

(iii)
Council officers are working to bring forward a proposal for
options for the development of the site that will likely include
the option of the facilities mentioned, as the Executive notes
these are in line with the response to the engagement survey
completed in 2023.

(iv)
A survey of residents has been undertaken as to the use of the land
and the Council has previously confirmed its support for several of
the leisure activities and services mentioned in the petition to be
provided on the site, subject to a business case and approval
process. Godalming Town Council relayed a similar request at the
start of this process which this council has also supported.

(v)
Once a decision is made in respect of proposed development, a full
procurement process will be required to complete the works on site,
and a lengthy delivery time is estimated due to the nature of the
site and the works required to deal with the landfill.

(vi)
Further information can be found on our website where we will keep
community members informed.

(vii)
The Council is committed to engaging with local community groups
and has set up a Broadwater Working Group.
