The contract will
provide a small number of local businesses the opportunity to join
the Green Mark scheme, with the aim of the collaboration being to
give participants access to a fully supported tool which will help
them take a holistic approach to improved sustainability across
their operations.

Green Mark is an EMS
(Environmental Management System) which provides a framework for
organisations of all sizes and types to monitor, control, and
continuously improve their performance, and in doing so helps them
to understand how they can save energy, reduce waste and minimise
their environmental impact in order to make a positive difference.
The fully supported, step-by-step process they follow is assessed,
audited and certified by a trusted accreditation scheme, and
ensures that members are putting relevant procedures and time
framed action plans into place, so that the Green Mark community
demonstrates a proven commitment to continuous environmental
improvement.

The Council aims to
use this pilot as a means to establish the business case for
further investment to encourage the Waverley Borough business
community to focus on the benefits of improved sustainability, and
to understand how best practice looks so that further phases will
deliver the best possible results.
