Decision

Surrey County Council has historically commissioned Waverley Borough Council to provide a housing related support service to households, who are at risk of homelessness and residing in the borough. This document records the decision to enter into contract with Surrey County Council for the period 01/04/2025 to 31/03/2026, and to exercise a one year contract extension from 01/04/26 to 31/03/2027.

Reasons for the decision

The provision of housing related support to households threatened with homelessness contributes to WBC’s success in preventing homelessness across the borough.
The Housing Related Support service delivered by WBC aligns with the objectives set out in the Council’s Homelessness Action Plan 2023-2028, corporate priorities, and central government’s National Plan to End Homelessness. It also compliments and bolsters existing service delivery.
The majority of the cost of one full time role within the Housing Options Specialist team is covered by this funding stream. A decision to enter into contract with Surrey County Council, and operate the one year extension, will secure funding for the role until 31/3/2027.
