The contract with our print mail supplier is expired, as is the procurement framework.
The Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) must by law conduct the annual electoral canvass in a prescribed manner using prescribed forms and various other communication channels.
To conduct this statutory duty, the cost of print mail is expected to be c.£50,000.

Reasons for the decision

To meet the statutory duty to conduct the annual electoral canvass, July – November 2026 and to prepare the 2027 Electoral Register.

Alternative options considered

None - The print mail supplier is experienced in providing this service to the ERO. It is not possible to operate at risk with a new supplier, given the canvass timing.
