Purpose

The report will request a transfer of funds to support the delivery of a 3g pitch in an alternative location in Crowborough.

Decision

RESOLVED:

a)    To welcome the partnership work undertaken by the Council and the Football Foundation and Sussex FA to explore the opportunities for the provision of a new 3g artificial turf pitch (ATP) in the Crowborough area.

b)    To approve the reallocation of £300k CIL and S106 funds previously allocated towards a new 3g pitch at Beacon Academy to Goldsmiths Recreation Ground, as this site represents the strongest strategic opportunity to address the identified need to provide a 3g ATP.

c)     To delegate authority to the Head of Planning Policy, Economy & Climate Change to make the necessary arrangements to protect current and future community use of the sports facilities, including through a grant funding agreement, community use agreement and any necessary sinking fund arrangements.
