Purpose

Following the feasibility study carried out in 24/25, to consider the next steps for the project

Decision

RESOLVED:

a)    To welcome the findings of the feasibility study and thank all those involved in its development;

b)    To approve the allocation and use of up to £558,000 of Community Infrastructure Levy receipts in the Council’s Capital Programme as the Council’s contribution towards Hamsey Bridge, being the first phase in the delivery of the Greenway Project (“Phase One” – including necessary connections to the existing road/cycle network and appropriate route signage), subject to Lewes District Council and the South Downs National Park Authority formally committing their respective matching contributions for Phase One;

c)     To grant delegated authority to the Director of Place, in consultation with the Public Health, Wellbeing and Asset Management, to undertake appropriate due diligence (including obtaining all requisite consents) and to negotiate, Page 55 Agenda Item 6 agree, approve and enter into any arrangements, agreements and associated documents necessary to give effect to and support the delivery of Phase One;

d)    To endorse continued collaboration with Lewes District Council, South Downs National Park Authority and other partners on the phased development of the Greenway Project.
