Purpose
Local Authorities are mandated
to provide comprehensive sexual health services for the population,
these include;
·
a full range of contraceptive services and advice on
preventing pregnancy
·
sexually transmitted infections testing and
treatment, including the provision of Chlamydia testing services
for young people under the age of 25 years
·
sexual health aspects of psychosexual
counselling
·
outreach, HIV prevention and sexual health
promotion
·
provision of services in schools and
colleges
The current contract expires on
31st January 25.
The Director of Public Health
will be asked to approve a contract using the Provider Selection
Regime (PSR) which came into force on 1 January 2024, as part of
regulations made under the Health and Care Act 2022. It is a
set of rules for procuring all healthcare services in England by
relevant authorities and is intended to increase flexibility and
collaboration in commissioning decisions.
Decision
The Director of Public Health has approved the
award of contract to University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation
Trust to commence on 1 February 2025 for a period of 18 months. The
total estimated value of the Contract to the Council over the whole
of the 18-month period is £6.57m.
