Full council record
Purpose
The County Council received a
Traffic Regulation Order application from Arundel Town Council in
2022 to introduce parking restrictions to prohibit motor caravans
from parking between 10pm and 9am, on Mill Road, Arundel. As this
is a complex TRO request it was taken forward as a Community
Highway Scheme.
Arundel Town Council has
consistently received complaints from residents about the
inappropriate use of Mill Road by campervans, motor caravans and
vehicles converted for overnight accommodation, and camping on the
highway. There are
concerns about long duration of some stays, the impact on the
environment due to lack of proper sanitary facilities and
the
use of firepits and barbecues on the grass
verge.
Decision
The Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport,
having considered the objections to the proposals, authorises the
Director of Law & Assurance to make the Traffic Regulation
Order as advertised and for the restrictions as set out in section
2 of the report to be implemented.
