Purpose

This project aims to improve mobile
connectivity in Chichester City Centre which lacks consistent
coverage. This results in difficulties in making calls or accessing
digital platforms from mobile phones and other devices.
 
The County Council aims to work with the
telecommunications market by procuring a technology solution that
supports improved mobile connectivity in North, South, East and
West streets in the short term and also enables network operators
to work with the Council in the longer term to invest in mobile
infrastructure in the city centre
 
The project aims to work in partnership with
the Chichester Public Realm Improvement project to reduce
disruption and keep costs to a minimum by carrying out civil
engineering works at the same time as re-surfacing – a
‘dig once’ approach. 

Decision

The Cabinet Member for Economy and Skills
has:
 

(1)Approved the
commencement of the procurement process required to select one or
more suppliers to implement the required infrastructure.
 

(2)Delegated authority
to the Interim Executive Director of Place Services to award the
contract(s) required to deliver the infrastructure solution.
