Purpose
Imberhorne School
in East Grinstead is one of two secondary schools for pupils aged
11-18 serving the East Grinstead locality. The school operates over
two sites with the Lower School (for Years 7 to 9) on a site at
Windmill Lane and the Upper School (for Years 10 to 13) on a site
at Imberhorne Lane.
The Lower School site at Windmill Lane, which
currently caters for 826 pupils, has significant condition and
suitability issues particularly in relation to pupil toilets and
also the modular teaching accommodation, which is now in excess of
30 years old. In order to address this £2.835m of Section 106
(S106) developer contributions, that are specified for use for
education infrastructure works at Imberhorne School, have been identified to
undertake a scheme of improvement works at the Lower
School.
A feasibility study has been undertaken to
assess the scope of the works that could be delivered with the
available S106 funds. Approval is now
sought to finalise the design of the improvement scheme and procure
a contractor to complete the works.
