Implementation of No Waiting at Any Time restrictions on roads around Southwick Green, Southwick HT03 (25/26)
July 17, 2025 Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport (Cllr Joy Dennis) (Cabinet member) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
A Community Highways Scheme
application was received by West Sussex County Council from the
local community to undertake works to improve pedestrian links at
Southwick Green, particularly in relation to routes to nearby
schools.
As part of the design for the
scheme, a number of locations where pedestrian crossing
improvements could be implemented were identified to help improve
these links and in order to protect these it was assessed by the
design team that a form of parking restriction would be
required.
To protect the proposed
crossing points ‘no-waiting at any time’ (double yellow
line) restrictions as detailed in section 2 where proposed. These
restrictions were required to first protect the crossing from
parking but to also maintain visibility for the crossing to be used
safely.
Decision
The Cabinet Member for Highways and
Transport, having considered the objections,
authorises the Executive Director of Law, Assurance and Insight to
make a revised version of the advertised Traffic Regulation Order
(as set out in section 2 and Appendix B of the report) and for the
amended restrictions to be implemented.
