Purpose

In July 2024, a decision

(OKD15 (24/25) was taken to re-procure the current residential
and nursing care homes framework contracts for older people via
direct award of contracts until October 2027, to enable sufficient
opportunity to co-design service models that meet local need and
align with the
Adult Social Care Strategy 2022 - 2025 and
Market Position Statement.

A block contract to meet
increasing demand for suitable dementia care and accommodation at a
sustainable rate in the northern region of the county, commissioned
as a supplementary agreement to the current framework, has expired.
The contract is currently being reviewed as part of the
Council’s wider plans to re-procure the current residential
and nursing care homes framework in 2027. Analysis and planning
will consider the need for residential services providing dementia
care within the northern region of the county in the period up to
the framework re-procurement.

Following completion of the
review, the Executive Director of Adults’ Services and Health
will be asked to approve a recommended interim contractual
agreement for residential dementia care and
accommodation.
