Purpose

Corporate laptops typically have a service life of 5 years and
the last major procurement of end user devices (laptops and
desktops) was undertaken during 2019/20.
Since then, the IT service have undertaken ‘just in
time’ procurements covering out of warranty early life
failures and units deemed beyond means of economic
repair.
It is therefore timely to
undertake another major procurement of devices to ensure
compatibility with today’s software demands (Windows 11, AI
powered solutions etc.).

Decision

The Cabinet
Member for Support Services and Local Government Reorganisation has
approved:

(1)
The commencement of a procurement process to purchase 3,000 laptop
devices via the NHS SBS Tech Devices Link 4 Framework.
(2)
The delegation of authority to the Executive Director of Finance
and Support Services to award the contract to the successful
provider to supply the laptops on conclusion of the procurement
process in accordance with the evaluation and tender requirements
described and within the financial parameters set out in the
report.
