Purpose

The provision of traffic
signals maintenance is critical to ensuring the County Council can
meet its statutory duty to maintain the highways and to ensure
that, in maintaining traffic signals and associated infrastructure,
takes such measures as appropriate to ensure the expeditious
movement of traffic on the authority's road network.
 
The maintenance contract
awarded for these services in 2016 is due to end in September 2026,
and a new contract is required.
 

Decision

The Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport
has:
 

approved the commencement of a
procurement for a new contract for the provision of traffic signals
maintenance; and

 

delegated authority to the Assistant
Director (Highways, Transport and Planning) to award and
enter into a new contract for the
provision of traffic signals maintenance. The contract will be let
for an initial term of seven years with possible extension(s) up to
a further three years. The new contract will commence 1 October
2026.
