Decision

West Sussex County Council (WSCC), through its
Refugee Resettlement and Migration Service (RRMS), supports
eligible individuals and families arriving under various UK
Government Resettlement Schemes, including Homes for Ukraine and
the Afghan Resettlement Programme (ARP).
Due to the ongoing challenges in securing long-term residential
tenancies, the RRMS requires the continued provision of suitable,
short-term contingency accommodation.
This approach significantly reduces reliance on costly
spot-purchased and emergency accommodation, streamlines support
logistics, and promotes stability for families, particularly for
children’s education.
This Decision seeks approval for one proposal to ensure continuity
and strategic distribution of this critical accommodation, to award
a new three-year contract for an additional, strategically located
accommodation based in the Southern region of the County. This new
base will further enhance the Council’s ability to offer
families longer, more stable stays and reduce frequent, disruptive
cross-country moves. This contract will be £0.215m per annum
for Three years (Total £0.645m). The Executive Director of
Communities has approved the direct award of this contract.
