Purpose

The West Sussex Growth Deal
Programmes have played a pivotal role in driving economic
development, enhancing infrastructure, and supporting business
growth across the county.

Growth Deals are bespoke
partnership agreements, developed collaboratively with each
District and Borough Council, and designed to reflect the unique
economic priorities of their respective areas.

As the initial phase of the
Growth Deals approaches completion, there is an opportunity to
build on this strong foundation. It is proposed that the
overarching Growth Deal framework, along with each individual
agreement, be refreshed to ensure continued alignment with the

West Sussex Economic Strategy 2025–2035, emerging
opportunities linked to Local Government Reorganisation, and future
devolution arrangements.

This refresh will also take
account of evolving local needs, including housing delivery,
infrastructure investment, and skills development, to support
sustainable and inclusive growth.

The Cabinet Member for Economy
and Skills will be asked to approve the refresh of the overall
Growth Deal Programme and the individual agreements, ensuring a
coordinated, forward-looking approach to economic growth across
West Sussex.

Decision

The Cabinet Member for Economy and Skills has
approved:
1)
the refresh of Growth Programmes across all West
Sussex districts and boroughs to reflect updated economic
priorities and funding opportunities for the period up until
2030;
2)
engagement with district and borough councils and
local stakeholders to co-design and agree refreshed programme
priorities; and
3)
the delegation of authority to the Executive
Director of Communities in conjunction with the Executive Director
of Law, Assurance and Insight to implement the refreshed programme
through agreeing individual, area-specific Growth Deals with the
District and Borough Councils, in accordance with the agreed
governance frameworks.
