Full council record

Purpose

Following the introduction of
the School Street on Glebeside Avenue, designed to improve safety
by restricting through?traffic during school drop?off and pick?up
times at Thomas A Becket Junior School, a further phase of
engineering measures has been developed to enhance pedestrian
crossing facilities at the junction of Wiston Avenue, Glebeside
Avenue, and Orchard Avenue.

A Traffic Regulation Order
(TRO) consultation ran from 15 January to 5 February 2026,
proposing extensions to the double yellow lines on Wiston Avenue
and Glebeside Avenue (Appendix A). These limits are intended to
keep the new raised table and four new uncontrolled crossing points
free from parked vehicles and to maintain clear visibility for
pedestrians.

Six objections were received,
summarised, and addressed in Appendix B. The scheme has received
support from Councillor Henna Chowdhury and the Police.

Decision

The Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport,
having considered the objections to the proposals, authorises the
Executive Director of Law, Assurance and Insight to make the
Traffic Regulation Order as advertised and for the restrictions (as
set out in section 2 of the report) to be implemented.
